Skincare Saves the Planet
Cult-favorite skincare brands REN Skincare, Biossance, Caudalie, Herbivore Botanicals, and Youth to the People are joining forces this Earth Day. A rare initiative from companies competing for the same market share, sure, but they’re unified by shared values and a single mission to better care for the planet as climate change concerns reach an all-time high.
Known independently for their clean formulas and eco-friendly skincare solutions, these brands announced their commitment to using only planet-friendly packaging by 2025. In an industry where 70% of plastic containers and packaging waste ends up in U.S. landfills, this comes in a moment where skincare brands across the board are intently searching for new ways to eliminate waste. Perhaps what’s most inspiring about the pact is its recognition that the environmental crisis is not one that can be solved alone, but it can be done together.
It’s not every day you see competitors united by a common cause, but the initiative is one that resonates. It says: “We care more about our values than we do about making a purchase.” And you know what? Consumers buy into that. Literally.
Now, please excuse me while I restock my skincare vanity with Cloud Jelly, Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, and YTTP’s Superfood Cleanser.
