The Starbucks Pup Cup Gets a Sweet Upgrade

Starbucks really pulled at our heart strings with the inception of the precious pup cup, but Ben & Jerry’s is reimagining new ways to satisfy your pet’s sweet tooth. The newly-launched Doggie Desserts offer up a decadent, dog-approved treat that’s truly crafted with man’s best friend in mind.

First and foremost, I love that Ben & Jerry’s saw a window of opportunity and ran with it. I always think it’s commendable to see brands respond to consumer trends and pop culture, and Ben and Jerry are certainly leaders in the risk-taking arena. So many brands, specifically those with a tenure of the likes of Ben & Jerry’s, have a tendency to play it safe and stick to what they know, but to take a chance on a new idea is an initiative that demonstrates awareness for emerging trends, and that speaks volumes when it comes to proving your relevance.

In a world where our four-legged friends function as firstborns and official members of the family, Ben & Jerry’s new launch is sharp, intuitive, strategic, and right on the money. Our dogs sleep in our beds, eat off our plates, have more toys than our toddlers, and stand to make more money than their master on a single Instagram post (“Petfluencers” is a topic for another time…), so isn’t it only fitting to have a designated dog dessert next to your personal pint of Mint Chocolate Chip? I mean, this is what the millennial Dog Mom lives for!

Whether it’s a birthday, a big win at a baseball game, a clean-plate club prize, or commemorating that “School’s out!” feeling on a summer night, Ben & Jerry’s is a staple of every celebration, and a symbol of moments shared with people we love. Now, those moments include the four-legged friends that make our families complete.
